Unusual Retained Rectal Foreign Body

The authors report the case of a 37 year-old man, resdent in prison, that was brought to the emergency room, ith a suspected six day rectal foreign body retention, that he patient stated to be a deodorant cap. There was no elevant medical history except for prior consumption of rugs, and the guards who accompanied him denied current ossession of illicit substances. The patient reported abdomnal cramping pain and absence of stools for five days even fter the use of enemas. Physical examination was unrearkable, including digital rectal inspection. In this context, n abdominal radiograph was requested and it revealed the resence of a foreign body in the small pelvis and a modrately dilated colon, without other changes (Fig. 1).
